Emily Martin - The Death of Cock Robin Print
Emily Martin (The Black Apple) does amazing paintings and she says about this portrait, “I love the famous (and excellently macabre) nursery rhyme Who Killed Cock Robin. There are a lot of variations and expansions on it, too, and many illustrated little books of the story from the 19th and early 20th century from dozens of different illustrators.
I'd really like to do an expanded Cock Robin series someday, but for now, this is my imagining of the last lines (my favourite part):
All the birds of the air
Fell sighing and sobbing,
When they heard the bell toll
For poor Cock Robin.”
Emily Winfield Martin, a.k.a. The Black Apple, creates amazing paintings, drawings and children's books. Working form a tiny studio filled with treasures in Portland, OR, her stunning works evoke dreams of fairy tales, music, myths, classic illustration, film, and the natural world… oh, and she believes in sea monsters.
Size: Her stunning works of art come as a 20.32 x 25.4 cm (8 x 10 inches) print. The print is archival, water-resistant, fade-resistant, and has a beautiful richness. All prints arrive sealed in a cello sleeve.
