La Toupie Fantoche

The Toupie Fantoche is an optical toy created by French inventor Emile Reynaud in 1881!

A modification of his first optical invention the praxinoscope, the Toupie Fantoche consists of four triangular mirrors that form a pyramid. The animation discs are placed at the vertex of the toy and reflect in such a way that every drawing stays flipped opposite every mirror. When one turns the device, the drawings then seem to come to life!

Size: The Toupie Fantoche - Handle spans roughly 9.5 x 12.5 cm (3.74 x 4.92 inches) and is the handheld version of this optical device.
