The Art of Wandcraft: A Custom Wand Experience (16+)

Every wand has a story. This is your chance to create one.
Join us in the Curiosa Common Room for an evening of creativity, imagination, and a little bit of magic as you transform a handcrafted wand blank into something entirely your own.
Begin by choosing your wand, then learn techniques for painting, aging, embellishing, and adding character to make it feel as though it has a history all its own. Experiment with glass finials, stones, runes, German Dresden trims, and other curious details, along with distressed effects like scorching, cracking, weathering, and worn finishes.
Will your wand look like an elegant magical heirloom passed down through generations? Something carried through a dark and dangerous adventure? A treasured tool belonging to a woodland witch, wandering wizard, or forgotten scholar? The story is entirely up to you.
Once your wand is complete, you’ll create a wand lore card recording its name, history, and unique magical properties before tucking it safely into its own velvet pouch.
Wandcraft will be led by Erin Hurst and Stephen Sauer. Erin is a photographer, artist and longtime member of the Curiosa team who many of you will recognize from the shop, and Stephen is one of Curiosa’s co-owners who, together with Heather, create the displays that transform our front windows throughout the year.
They’ll guide you through the materials and techniques, share some of their own tricks for creating convincing magical objects, and help you bring the wand you’ve imagined to life.
Each participant will receive:
- A handcrafted wand blank
- A selection of embellishments, paints, and materials to bring your wand to life
- A velvet wand pouch
- A wand lore card to complete and take home
No artistic experience is necessary - just bring your imagination.
Age range: 16+
*Due to the materials and techniques used in this workshop, participants must be 16 years or older.

Please note that all our facilitators carefully prepare in advance for each event, whether it’s gathering materials, setting up special activities, or creating a memorable experience. For this reason, once purchased, tickets are non-refundable.
If your plans change, you’re welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend up to 24 hours before the event. Just call us at (647) 341-0394 or send an email to oracle@curiosasociety.com with the new participant’s name, phone number, and email address, and we’ll take care of the rest.
