The Lost Art of Letter Writing - An Introduction to Calligraphy with Sylvia Wong

$125.00

Date: Tuesday, June 16th, 2026
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Ages: 15+

There was a time when letters were treasures - carefully chosen words pressed into paper, tucked into envelopes, and kept for years in drawers and ribbon-tied bundles. In a world of hurried messages and disappearing texts, this workshop invites you to slow down and rediscover the quiet beauty of writing by hand.

Join Sylvia Wong of Via Calligraphy in the Curiosa Common Room for an evening devoted to the art of modern calligraphy. Guided step-by-step, you’ll learn the foundational strokes, techniques, and letterforms that transform ordinary handwriting into something expressive, elegant, and deeply personal.

Whether you dream of creating beautifully addressed envelopes, adding flourishes to journals and cards, or simply learning a new creative ritual, this beginner-friendly workshop offers a welcoming place to begin. With plenty of hands-on guidance and one-on-one instruction throughout the evening, no previous experience is required.

All materials are included in your workshop fee, including Sylvia’s brush lettering worksheets, professional brush pens, tracing paper, and a custom name plate created especially for you.

You’ll leave with new skills, beautiful tools to continue practicing at home, and perhaps a renewed appreciation for the kind of correspondence worth lingering over!

*Due to the materials and techniques used in this workshop, participants must be 15 years or older.
